Location: Undeveloped corn field near Windsor, Colorado

Client: Owens Illinois

Client Objectives

  • Present a formal groundbreaking celebration to commemorate the beginning of a state-of-the art bottling plant near Windsor, CO, its first project in the state.
  • Introduce the company and its services to Colorado.
  • Generate good will as a new corporate citizen in the State.
  • Inform the business community and residents about new jobs it was creating.

Project Considerations

Prior to contacting Skyline, three other event companies had told the company that the event could not be done within their required three-week turnaround time.

Client representative was based in Ohio and needed assistance fast to plan and execute an event to include speeches from Colorado’s governor and other State officials, the company CEO and other VIP dignitaries.

The client wanted an up-scale event with full-service catering and all the amenities at a site that had no infrastructure in place.

Skyline’s Concept-to-Completion Services

  • Skyline rearranged its schedule to immediately visit the site, take photographs and meet with the construction company that had been hired to build out the site.
  • The client contact had not seen the site so these photos were emailed for review. We sent our recommendations to design and execute all coordination, logistics and technical production including installation and strike for review and approval.
  • Skyline worked with the construction company to create a level event site in the middle of a corn field using the site plan the client had approved.
  • Submitted a Production Plan, Site Plan and script for event.
  • Developed a budget and related time line for client’s approval.
  • Contracted, managed and paid all vendors.
  • Event elements included:

A tent for guests with portable flooring and seating and decorations including live trees and banners.

Menu development and a caterer to serve full-service lunch complete with china, linens and flatware.

Catering tents for food preparation and presentation.

Stage and stage furnishings including a locomotive and rail cars that were stationed on a track immediately behind the stage.

Technical production facilities including electrical generators, television lighting, camera positions and sound equipment.

  • Footage of the event was featured on several local evening television news programs.
  • Local print media covered the event and the project in detail.
  • Feature stories described the positive economic impact the plant was likely to have on Northern Colorado.
  • The client recognized that event execution was flawless was delighted with the results.
